Yemen: U.S. Airstrike Reportedly Kills 3 Al Qaeda Militants

A U.S unmanned aerial vehicle strike killed three al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula militants some 40 km (24.8 miles) southeast of Sanaa on Nov. 7, unnamed Yemeni government officials said, Xinhua reported. One militant was a local al Qaeda commander wanted for the 2008 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, a local security official said. The airstrike was part of a joint U.S.-Yemeni operation. The jihadist group has taken advantage of Yemen's chaos since the Arab Spring to take control of territory.
