A meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin has been removed from U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's schedule for an upcoming Moscow visit, Voice of America reported April 9. According to the White House bureau chief of VOA, the removal is apparent from a comparison of original and updated itineraries sent to the media. Relations between the United States and Russia are tense following U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to launch a strike at the Syrian government-held Shayrat air base. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spoke by phone April 8 about the situation in Syria after the strikes, Reuters reported. Regardless, Tillerson will continue discussions on Syria in person in Moscow on April 11-12.
