Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi arrived in Washington early March 20 ahead of a visit with President Donald Trump, Iraqi News reported. Al-Abadi will also meet with White House officials and members of Congress about security, military and economic cooperation. The Iraqi premier is also set to take part in a meeting of the U.S.-led international coalition against the Islamic State, which is scheduled to begin March 22. The gathering comes as Iraqi security forces supported by U.S. advisers are pushing deeper into western Mosul. They have been embroiled for months in a key battle to take back the northern Iraqi city from the Islamic State.
