U.K.: France's EDF Granted License For Nuclear Plant

France's energy company EDF and its partner Centrica on Nov. 26 received the first British site license for a nuclear power plant in 25 years, preparing the United Kingdom for its first nuclear station since 1995, Reuters reported. The license was granted for Hinkley Point in Somerset, England, where EDF plans to construct two of the four nuclear reactors that it plans to build in the United Kingdom. This comes on the same day as reports that BP is in talks with Russia's Gazprom to extend Nord Stream to the United Kingdom.
