Uganda: Troops Deploy To Border

Ugandan troops have been sent to the Uganda-Democratic Republic of the Congo border after fighting resumed between Mai Mai militia and M23 rebels near the border, New Vision reported Feb. 25. A spokesman for a Ugandan army division said the deployment is a routine exercise for the army and that there is nothing unusual about the situation on the border. The deployment comes the day after countries in Africa's Great Lakes region signed a U.N.-mediated peace agreement to help end fighting in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
