Turkey: Erdogan Opposes Violence

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he is against violence and is open to the "democratic demands" raised by protesters who have held demonstrations across the country, Hurriyet reported June 7. Erdogan also said that the Artillery Barracks, a planned construction project in Gezi Park, is not suitable to house a shopping mall. The mass protests across Turkey began as a demonstration against development at the park.
