Tunisia: Ruling Party Denies Involvement In Slaying Of Opposition Figure

Tunisia's ruling Ennahda party said it was not involved in the shooting death of secular opposition figure Chokri Belaid on Feb. 6, Reuters reported. Such an act would disrupt investment and tourism in the country, party president Rached Gannouhi said. Ennahda has faced opposition from secularists who are not convinced of the ruling party's commitment to establishing a civil state that is not dominated by Islamists.
