Tunisia: Authorities Arrest 3 Connected To Berlin Attacker

Tunisian authorities arrested the nephew of the suspected Berlin truck attacker, Anis Amri, and two others who are connected to Amri, Tunisia's interior ministry said in a statement Dec. 24, AFP reported. The statement said that the three suspects are members of a terrorist cell but did not say that they were directly connected to the Berlin Christmas market attack. Amri, who was killed in a standoff with Italian police Dec. 23, reportedly sent his nephew money and urged him to pledge allegiance to the Islamic State. The attack and the circumstances around it have invited scrutiny of the German security services, of Germany's immigration policies and of the European Union's free-movement policies.
