Syria: Opposition To Vote March 2 For Prime Minister

The 64-member general assembly of the Syrian National Coalition on March 2 will vote by secret ballot for the prime minister of a new opposition government that will administer rebel-held territory, an opposition member said, AFP reported Feb. 26. According to the member, there are at least five candidates vying for the position, including former Syrian National Council head Burhan Ghalioun, defected Prime Minister Riad Hijab, Salim al-Moslet, Khaled Mustafa and Osama Kadi. Numerous groups have been vying for political influence as the rebels continue to make territorial gains.
