South Sudan: Troops Withdrawing From Sudan Border

South Sudan began withdrawing troops from its border with Sudan, and the withdrawal will be complete by Feb. 4, according to a government statement issued Jan. 17, Reuters reported. As Juba moves its army to create a buffer zone between the two countries, it expects Khartoum to follow suit. The border issue is deeply contentious, but military, economic and political constraints will prevent it from evolving into a larger conflict.
