Somalia: Troops Rescue 22 Hostages From Pirates

Somali maritime forces rescued 22 hostages who were seized by pirates nearly three years ago, authorities in Somalia's Puntland region said Dec. 23, BBC reported. According to the authorities, the hostages show signs of physical torture and illness. Somali piracy has seen a dramatic decline in 2012, but without a sustained, land-based intervention, piracy will continue, posing an expensive burden for the world's shipping industry.
