Saudi Arabia: Rioters Reportedly Attack Government Buildings In Eastern Province

Rioters in Al-Qatif on Nov. 14 opened fire and threw incendiary devices at government installations, including Tarut police station and the Hay al-Nasirah security checkpoint, Saudi newspaper Al-Watan reported Nov. 16, citing a government spokesman in the Eastern Province as well as security sources. The attack on the police station coincided with a drug-trafficking operation, sources said. A number of those gathered were followers of Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, a prominent Shiite cleric, sources said.
