Nigeria: President Suspends Intelligence Chief Following Cash Discovery

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari suspended his country's intelligence chief, Ayo Oke, on April 19, following the recent discovery of $43 million in cash in an apartment in Lagos, AP reported. Buhari has ordered investigators to look into the National Intelligence Agency's claim to the money and if any laws were violated in association with the stash. A report on the investigation is due to be presented to Buhari in two weeks. The move comes as part of the president's wider crackdown on corruption, a major focus of his administration since taking office in 2015.
