Mali: Militant Group Revokes Agreement To End Hostilities

Islamist militant group Ansar Dine has revoked its promise to end hostilities in Mali in response to the Malian government's failure to make any concessions in return, the group said in a statement published by Sahara Medias, news.com.au reported Jan. 3. The statement also accused the government of recruiting mercenaries to fight in northern Mali. Militants have entrenched themselves in northern Mali since March 2012, when a military coup triggered the collapse of the Malian army in the region.
