Mali: Jihadists Reportedly Withdraw From Timbuktu

Islamist militants have withdrawn from Timbuktu after airstrikes destroyed an al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb command post in the area, Radio France International reported Jan. 23. Several sources said the militants withdrew to Kidal in northeastern Mali, near the Algerian border. Mali's jihadists can be expected to disperse to wage a guerrilla campaign.
