Mali: Government, French Forces Take Key Town

French and Malian troops entered the central Malian town of Diabaly on Jan. 21 without encountering resistance from militants, the BBC reported, citing reports from wire services. The militants fled Diabaly on Jan. 18 after it was hit by French airstrikes. French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said the French military will not leave any pockets of resistance. Mali's jihadists will likely disperse to wage a guerrilla campaign.
