Libya: Prime Minister Survives Assassination Attempt

The head of Libya's U.N.-backed Government of National Accord, Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj, survived an assassination attempt in Tripoli on Feb. 20, the Libya Observer reported. Armed assailants opened fire on the prime minister's motorcade, injuring two of his guards. Also traveling with the prime minister were state council head Abdul-Rahman al-Swehli and presidential guard commander Najmi Nakoa. More than five years after the fall of Moammar Gadhafi, Libya is still politically divided and home to many competing armed groups.
