Kuwait: Fund Announces $1.5 Billion Loan To Egypt

Director General Abdulwahab al-Bader announced April 7 that the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development plans to loan Egypt $1.5 billion dollars over the next five years, Reuters reported. The loan, which will be dispersed in annual increments of $300 million, will strengthen Egypt’s agricultural, transportation and energy sectors. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have provided billions of dollars in aid to Egypt over the past two years to help stabilize the country.
