Jordan: Strikes Nationwide Against Fuel Price Increase

Strikes and protests against a government increase in fuel prices continued in Jordan on Nov. 14, AFP reported. Protesters blocked a main road in downtown Amman and Islamists said they plan to demonstrate near the Interior Ministry. Around half of Jordan's 120,000 public school teachers went on strike, affecting at least 2,000 of the country's schools. Fourteen people, 10 of them policemen, were wounded when demonstrators attacked a police station in Irbid and government buildings in Salt, security officials said.
