Italy: Protesters In Rome Clash With Police

Protesters in Rome on Nov. 14 threw firecrackers and bottles and pulled down street signs along Rome's riverside Lungotevere road, police said, ANSA reported. Police also clashed with protesters near the city's synagogue. Demonstrators threw rocks and police fired tear gas and used armored cars to disperse crowds. Italy has so far avoided the kind of unrest that other troubled peripheral European economies have experienced during the eurozone's crisis.
