Iran: West Concerned About Fuel Move At Bushehr Nuclear Plant

Western officials are concerned over the unloading of fuel at Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant, an unidentified senior Western official said Nov. 20, Reuters reported. The official said Tehran should clarify the non-routine occurrence. A second official in Vienna said it raised safety-related questions, referring to the possibility of extracting usable plutonium from spent fuel for nuclear use. While Iran's nuclear program has given Tehran political leverage, actually acquiring nuclear weapons would increase the risk of military action against Iran.
