Iran, Egypt: Enhanced Diplomatic Ties Benefit Islamic World - Lawmaker

According to Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee member Seyyed Baqer Hosseyni, the expansion of diplomatic ties between Iran and Egypt would be useful for the Muslim world since it would help Muslims make scientific progress and increase the Islamic world's influence in the international arena, Press TV reported Feb. 5. Hoseyni also said the enhancement of bilateral relations between Iran and Egypt would allow them to play a more constructive role in the region. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Feb. 5 became the first Iranian head of state since the 1979 revolution in Iran to visit Egypt.
