Germany: Cabinet Agrees To Send Troops, Missiles To Turkey

Germany's Cabinet agreed Dec. 6 to send troops and Patriot missile batteries to Turkey to defend against possible Syrian missile attacks, an unnamed Cabinet source said, Reuters reported. The deployment still needs to be approved by Germany's lower house, and deployment would be expected to take several weeks. The move comes after NATO agreed to a request for the missiles from Ankara on Dec. 4. Netherlands and the United States are also expected to provide Patriot missiles. Turkey is facing a growing challenge from Syria and its allies.
