French President Francois Hollande has declared a state of emergency and has ordered the French borders closed and Paris under lockdown following multiple small-arms and explosive-device attacks across the city. The government is implementing a plan red, designed for the highest-level emergencies.
Five explosions have been heard outside of the Bataclan concert hall in Paris, Reuters reported Nov. 13. The explosions reported could have been flashbangs ahead of the entry of French security forces, but this has not been confirmed. It is believed as many as 100 hostages remain in the theater. The security forces have established a perimeter around the location and are monitoring events. Transit routes across the city have been shut down in an attempt to control movement, and the military has been deployed to assist existing security forces establish order. The death toll is still rising, with some reports listing 60 dead and many more wounded at present time.
