Egypt: Shura Council Approves State Of Emergency, Curfew

Egypt's Shura Council, or upper parliamentary house, approved Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi's decision to impose a 30-day state of emergency and a curfew in the Port Said, Suez and Ismailia governorates, Xinhua reported Jan. 28, citing state-run news agency MENA. These regions have been hit by riots and protests, which began with the Jan. 25 anniversary of Egypt's 2011 uprising.
