Egypt: Protesters Breach Barricades Near Presidential Palace

Protesters in Egypt removed barbed wire and barriers on the street leading to the presidential palace in Cairo the evening of Dec. 7, Egypt Independent reported. Guards formed a human chain to prevent protesters from reaching the palace while others entered the crowd to urge demonstrators to move back. The guards said Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was not in the palace and told protesters there would be no clashes as long as protests remained peaceful.
