Egypt: Police Fire Tear Gas At Protesters

Egyptian police fired tear gas at thousands of protesters marching in Cairo toward the Shura Council on Jan. 28, Ahram Online reported. According to a reporter, an armored security vehicle drove "frantically" at some of the demonstrators, leaving several injured and prompting others to torch the vehicle; a second armored vehicle was reportedly smashed in Tahrir Square. The Shura Council earlier in the day approved President Mohammed Morsi's decision to impose a 30-day state of emergency and a curfew in response to the ongoing protests.
