Czech Republic: Milos Zeman Wins Presidential Election

Former Prime Minister Milos Zeman won the Czech Republic's presidential election, according to the Jan. 26 results, Reuters reported. The leftist politician beat his conservative opponent, Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, with 55.1 percent of the vote. Zeman is expected to bring the Czech Republic closer to the European mainstream after the exit of Euroskeptic President Vaclav Klaus.
