Congo: Rebel Group To Withdraw From Eastern Cities

The leader of the M23 rebel group in the Democratic Republic of the Congo will withdraw the group's forces from the eastern cities of Goma and Sake, Reuters reported Nov. 27, citing the Ugandan military. The group withdrew without imposing conditions, agreeing that all their grievances will be resolved through the mechanisms of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region. M23 has it own political and economic interests, but Rwanda uses M23 as a proxy in eastern Congo.
