Congo: 2 U.N. Officials Kidnapped

Two U.N. officials working in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been kidnapped, the Congolese government said March 13, Reuters reported. The two officials, a man from the United States and a Swedish woman, were taken in the country's Kasai-Central province, according to a government statement. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has been plagued by political upheaval and rebellions over the years, remains a fragmented, difficult-to-control country.
