Algeria: 3 Guards Killed At Pipeline

At least three guards were killed and seven wounded late Jan. 27 while monitoring a pipeline in the region of Bouira, 125 kilometers (78 miles) southeast of Algiers, AFP and TSA-Algerie.com reported, citing residents and security sources. The guards were responsible for securing the pipeline delivering natural gas to northern Algeria from the Hassi R'Mel field in the Sahara. The El Farouk group carried out the attack and intended to blow up the pipeline, a source said.
