Algeria: 22 Hostages Still Unaccounted For

At least 22 foreign hostages —14 Japanese and eight Norwegians — remained unaccounted for Jan. 18 after Algerian forces stormed the complex at the Tigantourine natural gas field, Reuters reported, citing the hostages' employers. A local source said the area is still surrounded by Algerian special forces and some hostages remain in captivity. The kidnappers warned Algerians to stay away from foreign installations in the country, ANI reported.
