Afghanistan: Suicide Attack Wounds Intelligence Chief

A suicide bombing in Kabul on Dec. 6 wounded Asadullah Khalid, the chief of Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security, Reuters and BBC reported, citing Afghanistan's Tolo TV. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Khalid was at a guesthouse he owned at the time of the attack, an unnamed intelligence official said. Highly symbolic assaults give the Taliban leverage at the negotiating table.
