Sophia Steiner is deputy editor of the publishing team at Stratfor. She received a bachelor's degree at the University of Texas in government and psychology, with a minor in mathematics. She also earned a master's degree in global policy studies at the University of Texas' Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, with a focus in international security and intelligence studies. She holds two executive certificates in risk assessment in the Middle East and counterterrorism studies, and she has studied in Israel and China.
Ms. Steiner recently completed a policy research project on the security implications of new oil and gas technologies. She has also previously held positions as a research assistant for Applied Economics Consulting Group and as a calculus tutor. She has studied Farsi, Italian and Spanish.
