Security and Counterterrorism in India

India faces militant threats primarily from three sources: Maoist rebels known as Naxalites, tribal-based ethnic separatists and Islamist militants fighting in the name of Kashmir. Most militant activity is in the Jammu and Kashmir region and the northeastern part of the country.
