In 1967, Israel — fearing a coordinated strike by the Arabs and seeking to rationalize its defensive lines and create strategic depth — launched an air and land attack against its neighbors. The war gave Israel control of Palestinian enclaves the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, among other territories. The aftermath of the war affects the geopolitics of the region 41 years later.
