India, the world’s largest democracy, has the world’s fourth-largest economy and a GDP expected to grow from 7 to 8 percent in the next five years. While the potential is great, so are the constraints. Endemic corruption, a bloated bureaucracy and diverging political interests have contributed to a short-sighted perspective on economic policy.
