Philippine Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario said the Philippines will accept an expanded U.S. military presence to help defend its interests and ensure peace in the region, AFP reported Jan. 27. Del Rosario said the expanded presence will involve more joint exercises to promote interoperability as well as a frequent rotation of U.S. troops. He added that it was to the Philippines' advantage to maximize its treaty alliance with the United States.
