About 88 percent of crude oil production and 74 percent of natural gas output in the Gulf of Mexico remains offline because of Hurricane Gustav, the U.S. Minerals Management Service announced Sept. 6 in a statement on its Web site. About 1.1 million barrels of daily oil production remain shuttered, along with 5.48 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
