Russia: Rebel Attacks Rising In North Caucasus - Interior Ministry

Attacks by rebels in Russia's North Caucasus have increased in recent weeks, including a period between Aug. 11 and Aug. 17 in which nine police officers and soldiers and five civilians were killed, according to an Aug. 22 Russian Interior Ministry statement, Interfax reported. Twenty terrorist attacks were committed over that period, including 13 shootings and seven explosions, according to the statement.
