Government troops have begun to withdraw from the town of Khorug in Tajikistan's eastern Gorno-Badakhshan province Aug. 16, and authorities have removed military checkpoints that were in the area due to the clashes that followed the murder of the region's security chief, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported.
