Days of Secret Swiss Bank Accounts May Be Numbered

Following a heavily publicized settlement between U.S. prosecutors and Swiss bank UBS, the Justice Department is seeking the names of 52,000 U.S. citizens it believes have secret accounts. The Swiss government is determined to protect banking secrecy, but both the U.S. and the EU are on the warpath — posing a threat to a key plank of the Alpine country’s economy.
