A security guard at the Marriott hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan, prevented a suicide bomber from entering the hotel through a side entrance Jan. 26, though the bomber detonated his explosives anyway, killing himself, the guard and possibly another person, as well as injuring at least seven others. The attack took place a few hours before the Indian High Commission was to hold a Republic Day celebration at the hotel.
