Libya: Russia Backs U.N., AU Efforts - FM
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said May 17 that he had met with Libyan officials in Moscow, RIA Novosti reported. He said Moscow is not mediating between Tripoli and the opposition. Rather, he said his country is supporting efforts by the United Nations and the African Union (AU). He said Russia was told Tripoli will consider the AU's roadmap and would "comply with the provisions of Resolution 1973" should the opposition take similar steps and NATO strikes end.
