The Israel Lobby in U.S. Strategy

Austin, TX, Sept. 05, 2007 – Stratfor’s Geopolitical Intelligence Report this week explores the position of the Israel lobby in the U.S. strategy. The idea that this lobby in the United States is super-powerful benefits critics of U.S. Middle East policy, who get to say the U.S. relationship with Israel is the result of manipulation and corruption. This idea also benefits the lobby itself because one of its jobs is to raise funds — and the image of a killer lobby opens a lot more pocketbooks than the idea that both Israel and the United States are simply pursuing their own geopolitical interests. Beyond its ability to exert itself on small things, however, the Israel lobby is powerful in influencing Washington to do what it is going to do anyway.
