Protect Your Identity
For your protection, please take certain precautions to minimize and prevent the misuse of information that may have been disclosed.
Subscribers to our free weekly reports can take steps to protect their email address, such as changing passwords. Always use strong, complicated passwords, and never use the same password for multiple online services. Click here for a guide on password security. Never open attachments from suspicious emails. Watch out for fraudulent communications claiming to be from Stratfor. You can always check our Facebook page to verify company-approved communications.
Current and former paid subscribers should take advantage of the CSID identity protection service we’ve provided. Please also contact your financial institution(s) to inform them of this incident. If you see any unauthorized activity on your accounts, promptly notify your financial institution.
In the case of identity theft, you can contact the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") by calling 1-877-ID-THEFT (1-877- 438-4338) or online at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/. You can also contact the three U.S. credit reporting agencies: Equifax (http://www.equifax.com/ or (800) 685-1111), Experian (http://www.experian.com/ or (888) 397-3742), and TransUnion (http://www.transunion.com/ or (800) 888-4213), to obtain a credit report from each.
Even if you do not find any suspicious activity on your initial credit reports, the FTC recommends that you check your credit reports periodically. This can help you spot problems and resolve them quickly.
Watch out for suspicious telephone calls, and never give out personal information to undisclosed parties over the phone.
