I think that the STRATFOR BookShelf is a great idea. I have already read several of these books and just recently ordered a few that were recommended.

I hope that this idea gains traction

By way of suggestion I would also like to offer the following books because understanding the geopolitical picture is only half the picture; understanding US Strategy and the "American" response is the other.

Russell Weigly, The American Way of war
Peter Paret, Ed, Makers of Modern Strategy from Machiavelli to the Nuclear Age

Lastly, I would also like to suggest that the RAND Corp offers a number of free pdf's that one can download, or, if you prefer, you can purchase the books. there are a myriad of assessments under several category's; including the topic's of National Security and Terrorism and Homeland Defense.
