Airbus suffered another blow Nov. 7 when FedEx decided to pull its order of 10 A380s, and then took its business elsewhere -- to rival Boeing Co. FedEx still remains a loyal Airbus customer, and will add six Airbus A300-600 aircraft to its fleet in 2007, but the relationship between the two is shakier than ever. More significant, the foundation of Airbus is the most unstable.

The parent company of Airbus, the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. (EADS), has seen Airbus suffer a recent series of setbacks. Not even a month has passed since Airbus named Louis Gallois to replace short-lived CEO Christian Streiff, who resigned Oct. 9 for a variety of reasons. Succinctly, Streiff blamed Airbus for his resignation, noting that he was never allowed the "necessary operational powers" to do the job effectively.
