China has allegedly sold helicopter gunships to ethnic Wa rebels in eastern Myanmar's Shan state, The Irrawaddy reported April 30, citing Jane's Information Group.
The army has taken control of several towns in central Myanmar on March 23, after three days of violent riots between Buddhists and Muslims, which were not quelled by a riot police or a dusk-to-dawn curfew, Reuters reported.
At least two people, including a Buddhist monk, were killed March 20 and at least three mosques were destroyed during riots in the central Myanmar town of Meiktila, AFP reported.
Myanmar's government released a five-point joint statement with the Kachin Independence Organization after the second round of political talks between the two sides in Ruili, Xinhua reported March 12.
