An Irish man, one of the 41 hostages recently kidnapped by Algerian militants, has been freed and is now safe, the Irish Foreign Ministry said Jan. 17, Reuters reported.
It would be difficult to use the European Stability Mechanism to help Ireland's banks under the terms of Ireland's bailout program, a spokesman for the party of German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Oct. 26, AFP reported.
